What the certification is

An initiative to reduce contamination across the production chain.

AnimalCert is an initiative by C2 Group Brasil aimed at reducing contamination-related impacts in food along the production chain. It mitigates risks to human and animal health through a non-accredited certification, recommended by auditors selected by the certification itself and aligned with the GMP+ FSA standard and Brazilian regulations.

Market access

Eases entry into chains with formal technical requirements.

Scope of application

What is included in AnimalCert's technical assessment.

The standard covers from ingredient intake to finished product, with objective criteria for supplier control, processes, hygiene, risk management and traceability across the feed and pet food chain.

01

Ingredients and raw materials

  • Soybean meal
  • Corn
  • Additives
  • Vitamin and mineral premixes

02

Finished products

  • Complete compound feed
  • Pet food
  • Feed for various animal species

03

Assessed controls

  • Supplier selection and qualification
  • Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Hygiene and contamination prevention
  • Risk management and traceability

AnimalCert focuses on animal feed safety, that is, preventing food, ingredients and inputs intended for animals from generating risks through contamination, process failures, supplier failures or absence of technical control. Animal welfare may be a related topic, but it is not the core of the standard.

Staged structure

Two maturity levels. The company progresses at the pace of its operation.

The staging allows the company to start from a solid regulatory base and evolve to a management-system and HACCP layer, paving the way for international standards without reorganizing everything at once.

Governance and auditing

Independent audits performed by qualified certifiers.

AnimalCert clearly separates the standard-setting function and the audit function. The technical assessment is performed by registered certifiers, ensuring independence between who defines the criteria and who audits the operation.
